American Idol with Jamie Fox

Top 4 tonight. Getting down to the nitty gritty now and that’s OK by me. Jamie Fox was guest mentor and he’s not only funny, he’s a pretty good dramatic actor too. Oh, and a pretty good singer.

Lee Dewyze – *** He’s usually pretty right on but tonight he started off pitchy and sort of unsure of himself.

Michael Lynch – *** Man, this guy is slipping. If it weren’t for choir behind him, it would have been less than it was. Oh well. Didn’t do it for me and I have always been in his corner.

Casey James – ** He sounded to me like someone sitting around a camp fire singing Mrs. Robinson after having a few beers.

Crystal Bowersox – ***** I thought she bropught the show back to reality. I turned around for that one and watched and listened the whole time.

Duets:
Lee and Crystal - I like that song but they didn’t convince me that I could like it with them singing it. lol

Michael and Casey – Both these guys surprised me on this song and I enjoyed it.

Going home?? It has to be Casey!

Adam Lambert? OK. Not a favorite but what the heck and he’s giving advice? Don’t know how you feel, but neither one of us are millionaires so… we need to let it go. lol. On the other hand, he did give some good advice. Well, better than Miley Cyrus a few weeks ago. My opinion.

Crystal Bowersox: ***** Very nice job. I loved the way the song slowed and then she brought it home.

Andrew Garcia: * I miss the guy who was there trying out. I mean, the first time I saw him. This is just bad.

Tim Urban: ** OK. It was OK but it really didn’t go anywhere. But he did make it his own.

Lee Dewyze: **** Very nice job. But they are right. He needs to smile a bit or something.

Aaron Kelly: $$ Nope. I think he picked the wrong song.

Siobhan Magnus: *** I started off not liking her and was thinking 2 stars. Then, she picked it up and it was up to 4. But then she took the song up into the stratosphere again and I ended giving her 3 stars.

Michael Lynch: **** I thought it was a nice job. Should have never been in bottom 3 last week.

Katie Stevens: *** Not bad and better than last week.

Casey James: ** No way. In my opinion, he took a big step back. Sorry.

Going home? Aaron or Andy. Possibly Andy Garcia.

Rubin Studdard started the show off. Glad he’s doing great. Usher was the main attraction. For what, I don’t know. That was the nuttiest thing I’ve ever seen or heard. I think it was. lol. And he’s worth millions. The third performer was Pea Didi Dirty or something like that. He sang Hello, Hello, Good morning. Now there’s a hit if ever I heard one. lol. I must be getting old. OUCH.

Mary:
Bottom three: Katie, Tim and Didi. Going home? It should be Tim. He’s my pick

My pick to go home would be either or Andrew Garcia or Aaron Kelly or Siobhan Magnus

It’s a toss-up for me whether Tim or Didi goes home, but I’ll pick Tim, as he’s been in the bottom 3 before.

Wish I had heard Didi but of the ones I heard, I’d say that Tim should go home. America probably won’t though because he’s cute like you know who was.

Tonight they pick a any song from Billboard which could be anything. Then they have the screecher come in, Myley Cyrus. Well, she has the money and the celeb but I have no idea what she she add here. She’s 17 and I just don’t get it. I’m telling you, American Idol just keeps getting better and better.

Lee Dewyze: ***: Singing ‘The Letter’. Joe Cocker? Nah. Not bad. A bit pitchy at times but you can get away with it in this song. Glad they are doing some upbeat stuff. Maybe I’ll stay awake.

Paige Miles: That was gastley, awful, horrible and bad. lol. I almost called 911. She has got to go~!!!! No one left to sing can top that. Or should I say bottom that.

Tim Urban: * Miley Cyrus says Tim Urban is great. Need I say more? ‘A little thing called love.’ Boring and not my cup of tea, beer, coffee or poison. But Miley thought he was great.

Aaron Kelley: ** Aaron is the one with tonsilitis and Ryan writes his meesage down on paper. HA! I gave him an extra star because his voice wasn’t 100%. He was better than Paige and Tim though. He’s a bit pitchy but then again, I’ve had tonsilitis and it ain’t fun.

Cyrstal Bowersox: ***** 5 stars. Miley thinks she can try harder. HAHAHA!!! She sings a Janis Joplin song and i’ve said all along she reminds me of her. Nice job. Much better than Miley Cyrus. And she took the song somewhere. Liked it.

Michael Lynch: ***** 5 Stars. Very nice job and was totally entertained. I must have missed something because some of the judges thought it wasn’t too good. Maybe they’re telling him this to keep his ego in check.

Andrew Garcia: ** 17 year old Miley gives him advice to lose the guitar. hmmm. I think he should have kept the guitar, swung it around and hit her in the head with it. But that’s me. Not a good song choice. He should try and maybe do something Hispanic. He’s a good scat singer too.

Katie Stevens: ** It started alright, but her voice doesn’t have that star quality. Sorry.

Casey James: *** Not a bad job – mediocre for me.

Did Benami: ** She has a unique voice. I liked the way she started but it became a little too pitchy at times for me.

Siobhan Magnus: ***** 5 Stars this week. She looked hot and sounded hot too. I had no idea who that was at first. What a change. A little screaming at the end, but I guess that was her thing there.

It’s ladies night on American Idol and hope they do better than last week. I will be paying attention better tonight seeing how I got my work done for the day. I know the girls have to do better than the guys last night. I hope Ryan sticks with hosting the show and not butt in with his comments. Yo Ryan, let the judges, including Simon, do their job. Sheesh!

Ho-hum…..tonight’s show was about as exciting as watching wallpaper dry. And no wonder – those judges have the guys confused….”make it your own” – and when they do, the judges jump them for not sticking with the original song. I agree with Kieto – Michael was by far the best and the rest? Very unforgettable for me. I really don’t care who goes home, but I don’t think it will be Aaron or Tim (who was a little better tonight).

My pick to exit is John Park and Jermaine Sellers.

Cyrstal Bowersox: **** I think she did a great job with that song. She put a twist on it and at first, I didn’t think it was going to work out. But she did a good job.

Halley Vaughn: ** OK. Was she off pitch? I mean, I think it was probably hard to follow Crystal but that was awful at times. ouch.

Lacey Brown: ** Nothing for me. Sorry. Pitchy at times, but ok at times. 2 stars

Katie Stevens: *** I liked it when she started. It got better which is a good thing. She took some dips here and there but ended up alright. She has a nice voice.

Didi Benami: ** She started sort of off her cookies. And stayed like all though the song. Worse than last week.

Michelle Delamore: *** Did alright and has my vote to be in top 10.

Lilly Scott: *** She a great job with that song. She’ll be in top 10.

Katelyn Epperly: ** Way too slow but she sang it very meaningful. Went off key at the end.

Paige Miles: *** She did alright.

Siobhan Magnus: **** WOW. When she hit that high nore… I about flipped. I thought that was super. Top 10.

American Idol Top 24

It’s guy night at American Idol and I love it when they go to the judges for advice before the performances. They all had pretty good advice. Especially Simon. In anycase, I hope the show goes better than last night. At this point, all we are doing is voting for who goes home on Thursday. So pick 2 guys, and 2 gals in the comment box. Todrick Hall: *** He started off good, then went somewhere and then came back.
Aaron Kelly: *** Not bad, but not the best.
Jermaine Sellers: *** Although he was kind of screaming at times, he was pretty good.

Joe Munoz: *** Very nice job I thought.

John Park: ** Not bad, but not real good either. He surprised me on some of the runs.
Michael Lynch: *** Very good. He was right on and I look for him to be in top 12.
Alex Lambert: No star. It was out there and boring, out of tune, and it looked like he was nervous.
Casey James: *** Not bad. At least he was in tune.
Andrew Garcia: **** I thought he did a great job. That was a tough song. However, Simon didn’t.

This is the first night of the top 24 and it’s all about the girls. I am so glad the drama weeks are over and it’s really going to fly when we get down to the top 12. Here we go.

New American Idol Judge Ellen Degeneres

Ellen Degeneres is finally here and I thought she was great as a judge. I had my reservations, but I was wrong. Hope she is like that all through the rest of the season. She brings comedy to an already popular show. Something they were lacking.

Out of over 100,000 people who tried out for AI, approximately 181 people made it through to Hollywood. We’re still in the early stage of AI and are only getting to hear a few who make it through to next round. I am looking forward to when they get down to 12 guts and 12 girls.

I liked a few during the first half of the show but my favorite was Andrew Garcia. I see him going all the way. Then there was Janelle Wheeler, Haley Vaghn, Lilly Scott, Michael Lynch and Mary Powers.

Getting close to the end of the show, Casey James was alright. Didi Benami was pretty good. Crystal made it through. She was pretty good.
