American Idol 2010

The opening with Ellen sitting on Simon’s lap was wierd but I guess they did it for the laugh. I didn’t laugh. We’re down to 8 girls and the first one was Katie Steven’s.

* = Just OK
** = Not Bad
*** = Good
**** = Very Good
***** = Top 12 Material

Katie Stevens: ** Started flat. Too low for her. Too flat. Was waiting for something to happen and nothing did. Was too karaoke for me.

Siobhan Magnus: **** Very nice; loved her tone; and she took the song somewhere and made it her own.

Lacey Brown: *** Unique voice; in tune; interesting to me for the first time.

Katelyn Epperly: ** Didn’t move me, thrill me, or kill me. Sorry. The song was all over the place and it sounded like a lounge act.

Did Benami: *** She surprised me this week. Again, she has a unique voice. Good for some kind of genre. Maybe old dtyle. She was in tune but kind of just so so as it went on.

Paige Miles: * A big disappointment. She was flat at times and I don’t want to type anymore.

Crystal Bowersox: ***** Gave her 5 stars. That was terrific. Reminds a little of a mellower Janis Joplin. lol.

Lilly Scott: * I almost fell to pieces when she started the song. lol. OUCH! She may go home. Sorry.

Going home tomorrow.
Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly.

I’ve been so busy I have had to timeshift the Idol episodes, so the comments would not have been timely. Tonight, I got to watch live, so here goes:

Katie Stevens: ** She tried, but it didn’t come together.

Siobhan Magnus: *** She has talent, but it doesn’t always show. Tonight was not my favorite, but I think her prior work is solid.

Lacey Brown: *** Interesting voice. She’ll be in the top ten, but she is a bit of a one-trick pony. It will get boring if she doesn’t start mixing it up.

Katelyn Epperly: ** I have to agree with Kieto. There was nothing horribly wrong about this song, it just was very pedestrian. Carole King she is not.

Didi Benami: **** I thought the judges were way too harsh last week, and I loved what she did with this song.

Paige Miles: 1/2 * Just like Hayley Vaughn last week, sometimes a contestant picks a song that you just know they will be singing Thursday night. This was Paige’s Thursday night song. Just bad.

Crystal Bowersox: ***** What can I say? In a season with few standouts, she is one of them. I always look forward to her performances.

Lily Scott: ** Just OK. She is not in trouble this week, but she needs to step it up if she wants to stay.

Going home? Paige Miles and Katie Stevens

I’m picking Paige for sure to go and it’s a toss up between Katelyn and Katie for the other. I really like both of them, but I’ll choose Katie to go (darn it!)

I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar tonight so had to tape the show and just now listened to it. As far as my ear goes, the only ones I thought sang in tune were Katie Stevens, Siobhan, Didi and Crystal. My list is:
Katie S. *** too many people giving her all kinds of advice. Wasn’t exciting for me but she tried.
Siobhan *** like the song, didn’t like her singing it but she was good
Lacey Brown ** I disagree with the judges. I thought she went off key.
Katelyn Epperly ** (I had to laugh because I wrote down exactly what Mary D wrote!) Carole King she’s not! Didn’t sing two measures in a row in tune.
Didi Benami *** It was nice to hear someone singing in tune. Not exciting for me, but good.
Paige Miles * She sounded nervous. It hurt my ears to hear so many flat notes.
Crystal B ***** Wow! that girl has it and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her go all the way.
Lilly Scott ** She started in a key too low for her voice. I’d rather listen to Patsy!

To go home? Paige and Katelyn (Lilly would be a close third choice!)

I probably don’t agree too much on any one of them.
To start I thought it was STUPID for Ellen to be sitting on Simon’s lap. What was the point? If it was supposed to be funny I missed the humor. Too bad because I love Ellen.

    (1) Katie Stevens -I must have missed her I can’t remember what she sang.

(2)Siobhan-I like “The House of the Rising Sun” and thought she did a good job.

(3)Lacey Brown-I don’t remember what she sang but I had an (X) which could mean just OK.

    (4)Kaitlyn Epperly-I wasn’t blown away-It was just OK.

    (5)Didi Benami-Just OK.

(6)Paige-I’m sorry but her “Smile”was pretty off key.

(7)Crystal-I like Tracy Chapman but I wasn’t impressed with her version.I also didn’t like the fact that Simon said on a talk show yesterday that he favored Crystal as the Winner of the Girl’s. I think taht gave her an unfair advantage.

(8)Lilly Scott-I liked her song choice and her but she also was a little pitchy.

I guess I would have to say Paige and Katie to GO.
I may not be being fair since I really can’t remember Katie.
I really don’t think any of them have been on top of it this time. I’ve said before that maybe this show has worn out it’s Welcome. Some of them that I really liked didn’t make it through.
