American Idol Top 12 Show 1

Top 12 night and glad we’re down to it. This season has been kind of slow and hope it picks up. To me, and this is just my opinion, there are only 3 or 4 good singers. Michael Lynch, Crystal Bowersox, Sioban Magnus and Aaron Kelley. We’ll see.

* = Just OK
** = Not Bad
*** = Good
**** = Very Good
***** = Top 10 Material

Michael Lynch: **** First up, Michael. Nice job and nice falsetto. He played the stage and the audience too. Nice job.

Didi Benami: *** Not bad. She surprised me until she hit this one high note. lol

Casey James: *** Was missing something and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it wasn’t loud enough or something. Usually, that’s not my complaint. Usually, it’s too loud.

Lacey Brown: *** Ya can’t fault a gal for learning to sing in church. She put her own little twist on this song but it seemed to me to be just alright. Nothing earth shattering.

Andrew Garcia: ** He has a little bit of Sting going for him. But this song wasn’t a good one for him I don’t think. Not only that, he was a bit pitchy here and there. But maybe that’s his style.

Katie Stevens: ** Oh my. She’s going astray. Sounded too karaoke to me.

Tim Urban: * Sorry. Man, I can’t see it. This guy is flat, and it’s amazing he’s made it this far.

Siobhan Magnus: *** I’ll still her 3 stars but she seemed a bit shakier than other performances. lol and cracked a few times at the end with them high notes. I’ll give her an ‘A’ for going for it.

Lee Dewyze: ** Just OK but better than the last few times.

Paige Miles: ** Sorry. Karaoke style. Just couldn’t get into it. Tried to. Added not here. Just found out she had laryngitis. Ouch. I’ll give her an extra star for that. So she get’s 2.

Aaron Kelley: *** I gave him three stars because I feel sad. hahaha.

Crystal Bowersox: ***** The best of the night. I’d buy her CD and I don’t buy any CD’s, lol.

The best… Cyrstal and Michael

Going home choices? Tim Urban and Paige Miles

I’m a Michael fan and would buy his CD….I know that everyone raves about Crystal, but Siobhan is so quirky that she gets my attention more than Crystal.
Are you sure that 2 go home?? Well, I’m just picking one and that’s…..Tm Urban…maybe I’ll be half right if two go home…

A lot of mine sound like Kieto’s but honest, I didn’t copy! it took me a while to get here because I was harvesting and plowing. (Sue will understand that!)
Michael – 4* I didn’t think it was a great song but he sang the heck out of it!
Didi Benami – 3*- to my ear there were flat notes that no one else seemed to hear!
Casey James – 3* (Didn’t write anything about him except 3*
Lacey Brown 2*- no energy and flat
Andrew Garcia – 2* not my fav. song. too monotonous for me – he did what he could
Katie Stevens – 3*- still no spark but i still like her voice
Don’t expect her to win though!
Tim Sanjaya Urban – 1* what can I say?
Siobhan Magus 3*+ a hard song and not her best, but good
Lee D 2* one of his best so far
Paige – 2*+ thought this was her best
Aaron 3* also thought this was his best
Crystal 5* not HER best but she’s blowing them away.
To go home – Tim and Lacey

I just now saw in my mail that you wanted us to mention the 2 we though the best, and for me it would be Crystal and Michael.

Maybe I’m suffering from grade inflation this week, or maybe I’m just relieved that Rolling Stones week wasn’t a complete train wreck, but here goes:

Michael – ***** – He needs to learn to move on stage, but otherwise I think he nailed it.
Didi – *** – she’s getting better but it won’t happen fast enough. She’ll probably make the top ten, but go out soon thereafter.

Casey – *** More comfortable with his guitar this week. Not bad at all, just nothing memorable.

Lacey – *** – I’m beginning to doubt she will make the top ten, although she has an interesting voice. She had pitch problems that the judges would have jumped on in anyone else.

Andrew – ** I thought he was going to be so much better when I heard him in the audition and in Hollywood week. The arrangement didn’t have enough energy.

Katie – ** Pitch problems throughout, made worse by her choosing a song that was out of her range (especially the lower ranges). Very good for a high school performance. Not good enough here.

Tim – ** He didn’t get the song at all. I felt like I was in a college dorm room where somebody picked up his guitar and started strumming.

Siobahn – **** Give her credit for going for it. She’s going to stick around a while. She’s not the next American Idol.

Lee – **** (I would go 3.5 but I can’t split a star) He is getting more comfortable on stage. Good but not great performance.

Paige – **** Complete shock that she pulled it off. Can she keep it up?

Aaron – **** The vocal performance was good, but he needs to get comfortable on stage. He’s not there yet.

Crystal – ***** I am not a fan, but this was an excellent performance.

I think it’s one going home. I think that one is Tim Urban. If it is two, my first runner-up is Andrew. Best of the night? Michael and Crystal.
