I’d be remiss not to blog on the St. Louis American Idol tonight. Plus, I think I would hear about it from so many who comment here. lol. I thought I’d wait til Hollywood to start posting, and probably will after tonights show. Well, let’s do it!
St. Louis American Idol Tryouts
Great seeign St. Louis. Hopefully, we’ll see some people who are actually from St. Louis.
First up…
Johnny Kiesler. Not too bad. In tune and lots of riffs there bub!
Michelle with little girl.. pretty good and think she may go all the way. Country.
Kid sang Lean On Me. Great job!! May go all the way. Needs to open his eyes.
Ethan Jones… Good voice. Father was in a rock band Hmmm. which one? any1 know?
Mark Ingram… did not make it. He’s an entertainer. Got lost on a few notes.
Layren Gray… Excellent! My fav of the night. Top 12 material here.
Well, watching it for the first time tonight and it was fun.
San Diego – Aircraft Carrier
Ashley Rhobes was pretty good. I Will Always Love You. Sang it real nice. Adam somebody. Nice job I guess. Was playing poker and missed him. Aubree – Was a little dense but was alright. Girl rapper was just ok for me. But maybe she will get better. Kyle Cruise – Me and judges… not on same page. He was alright, but not real good.
Then it was craziness.
Jane Carrey - Jim Carrey’s daughter. My favorite of the night. The judges? WTH?
Then shots of a bunch getting in.
That’s it for me. Lost the poker game. Now, it’s popcorn and POTUS address. Ciao
I don’t know what to expect tonight. I am sure there will be some surprises and disappointments as usual. Should be entertaining. Especially with the judges being on the sugar sweet high thigh they’ve been on. Pia Toscano is supposed to sing a fast song. I think she does a great job with the ballads. Let’s see how she does. And, I am looking forward to Jacob Lusk as well.
Jacob Lusk – (A+) He deserved this. Even though he lost his earpiece he was right on in pitch. KUDOS
Haley Reinhart – (B) Moving up a bit. She did an alright job with that song. Janis Joplin is tough to do.
Casey Abrams – (B) Took a grade down this week. Good bass player, I like the bass, butit seemed like a lounge act to me.
Lauren Alaina – (C+) She did better than last week. But still reminds of karaoke. Sorry you Lauren fans. I think I will mute the judges from here on out.
James Durbin – (A) Started off real flat. But picked it up, or brought it up and did a great job with that song. As skeptical as I was, I turned around about a minute into the song.
Scotty McCreery – (B) Did better than last week so I bumped him. He’s grown a bit since he first started.
Pia Toscano – (A+) WOW!!!!! Best of the night so far. Man, that was great. I was not a fan of that song until she started getting into it a little. That was great. Still at a A+!
Stefano Langone – (B) Another singer that got a step up in grade from last week. Not bad. Surprised me.
Paul McDonald – (F) Nuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please take the Poll. It’s the best and the worse.
OK. Two going home. Here’s who everyone thinks is going home.
Skipper: SHOULD go home, Paul and Naima
Sue: I’m still holding out for Paul and I’ll throw in Naima or Thia as the second.
I’m gonna keep choosing Paul McDonald to go until American gets it RIGHT!!!
Mary: Two go home: Thia and Stefano.
JoAnna: I think Thia and Naima should probably be out.
Kieto: Bottom 3? Scotty McCreery, Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald
Going home? I think Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald.
And the winner above is… I think it’s a tie between Joanna, Sue and Skipper.
The bottom three were: Naima, Thia and .. oh oh… Paul McDonald!
Elton John night. This should be interesting. Who do you think is going home tonight? Please take the poll below my comments. Will the judges fall all over themselves again?
Scotty McCreery – (C) Pitchy and didn’t do anything for me. Sorry you Scotty fans out there.
Naima Adedapo – (C) Raggae. Well, she made it her own and it was ok in places, and if I never heard that song before as I would imagine most of the young audience probably never has, I would think she did a good job so she’ll probably make it to next week. At this point of the competiton, you can almost see and hear who the judges are for and who they want to go.
Paul McDonald – (C) Man, he was pitchy all over that song. He’s weak and I would NOT buy his CD.
Pia Toscano – (A+) I would buy her CD. That was excellent but the judges want to hear her something up tempo. Aw, for cryin out loud!
Stefano Langone – (C+) It was alright but a little off in a few places and I’m not sure, but it sounded at a brief point in the song like he forgot the words.
Lauren Alaina – (C) Too Karaoke for me. I almost fell asleep. However, that may be a good thing these days. I have no idea what the judges are listening to or where they are coming from.
James Durbin – (B+) He is a rocker and did a pretty good job with that song. Not my cup of tea but nice job.
Thia Megia – (B) A lovely ballad. lol. I gave a her a B because she told a story with the song.
Casey Abrams – (A) Wish he would shave his beard off. But hey… I was never known for MY fashion smarts. He did trim it a bit. Looks better. But to his singing tonight. Great job. Not so all over the place and right on the money. Nice job.
Jacob Lusk – (A+) Two A+s tonight. He deserved it. Right on in pitch and arrangement.
Haley Reinhart – (B-) I did NOT agree with the judges at all. Good Lord. I must be either getting too old, losing my hearing or just not into it this year. I had my back to her during her performance so I just heard her sing. I turned around at the end to she how she moved and stuff, but it just wasn’t there for me. I certainly did NOT think it was the best of the evening.
Best of the evening – Pia Toscano and Jacob Lusk
My final thoughts? Although my grading doesn’t reflect what I am about to say, all did an OK job. Elton John is a tough bird to pick to sing his songs. They were all written just for him.
These guys are my bottom 3. I know you don’t agree with me about Scotty. The good news is I never get it right. Paul McDonald has a following no matter what. I think Naimi might be there but these are my three.
Scotty McCreery, Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald
Ah yes… the group sing! And then the group commercial. OK. Let’s get down to business. Here’s who we thought was going home as of last night.
According to our grades or picks.
Mary: Naima
Sue: Naima
Skipper: Paul McDonald
Kieto: Paul McDonald
My Poll Votes: Who do you think is going home?
Naima or Paul McDonald
Bottom 3 from tonights episode? Haley Reinhart (Paul McDonald is safe so that knocks me and Skipper out so we can’t win that all expense paid vacation for two to the Caribbean) Naima ( Sue and Mary got it right for the bottom three. I just think Paul should GO!) Karen Rodriguez
Mary said … Karen: Oh, Karen. I think the web audition has done her a disservice with the voters, as she just showed up in Hollywood Week with no prior introduction, no “I’m going to Hollywood!” footage. She’s got a good voice, but there’s no excitement there. I think she’s in danger. B-
Skipper said: Karen: B Somehow she seemed more nervous to me. I do like her, but she did go off pitch toward the end. Less than most!
Last seasons’ Lee DeWyze performed. B. lol.
I really enjoyed The Black Eyed Peas although I enjoy the Christian music genre better myself.
And the person going home is….
Karen Rodriguez
I can’t believe it! Naima stays… Paul McDonald stays. Oh well.
Tonight’s Top 12 American Idol episode had it’s ups and downs. OK. The judges are falling all over themselves this year on everybody. I miss Simon. How bout you? It’s flat singers and it’s sharp singers. Out of tune and great pitch singers. Something for everyone. Here’s how I graded them. Now, remember, this is just my opinion. Oh, and don’t forget to take the poll.
1. Naima Adedapo : C (gave a B last week) : I bit pitchy but what do I know? haha. But Jennifer was with me on that.
2. Paul McDonald : D (gave a C+ last week) : This guy is slipping. A Karaoke singer with white teeth.
3. Thia Megia : B (gave a B- last week) : A little better than last week. But didn’t ring any bells for me.
4. James Durbin : A- (gave a A last week) : A rocker man. But gave him a – because he was a little pitchy at times. But most rockers are. That’s why their rockers.
5. Haley Reinhart : B (gave a C+ last week) : She did a great job with that song and really stepped up from last week. I could not disagree with Paula. But then again, she is there and in the biz.
6. Stefano Langon : B+ (gave a B last week) : He did ok with the song. I guess I’m hungry cause all the songs and singers are sounding the same. lol.
7. Pia Toscano : A (gave a A last week) : She has a great voice. Love the way she travels around without any farefare.
8. Scotty McCreery : B (gave a C+ last week) : Did a nice job and for the most part, in tune throughout.
9. Karen Rodriguez : B (gave a C+ last week) : Better. I think she should sing more Spanish. What do you think?
10. Casey Abrams : B (gave a C last week) : I really took a chance this week with the screaming song with 4 chords but pulled it off… I think.
11. Lauren Alaina : C (gave a C last week) : I know she has the flu but it sounded the same as last week to me. Near the end it was more karaoke than a performance on the Idol. I guess the judges are hearing something else. I miss Simon.
12. Jacob Lusk : B- (gave a B last week) : He did alright I guess.
Boy, I asked what you thought about Scotty and you sure told me. haha. Anyways, glad there are at least 4 of us. Skipper did not catch the show but sure she will be on along the way. Here’s what we have so far.
According to grades and remarks… Sue says… Ashton Jones, Karen Rodriguez, and Paul McDonald. Mary D says… Ashton Jones, Karen Rodriguez and looks like Stefano. Kieto says… Lauren Alaina, Karen Rodriguez and Casey Abrams.
The show started off with a group sing and that was fun. Nice hearing everyone. But I did not hear too much from… Scotty! HA. So, who is going home tonight? First…
Car commercial with the 13 kids.
then…
Red Riding Hood Premiere
then…
the 1st in the Bottom 3 was…
Karen Rodriguez
Then we had…
Adam Lambert with an original. I am getting old. Very nice song though.
Ashton Jones, and Haley Jones are the next 2 with the least number of votes.
Who goes home??
Ooops… not yet.
A PDiddy Song. I’m comin home.
OK. Now? Who is going home?
Ashton Jones
Once again, even with just 2 other peeps, Kieto get’s it wrong…. AGAIN!! And I should have got that one. She wasn’t all that good. Even in her final farewell song she was sharp and flat in a few places. CYA!
Tonight’s show was pretty dog gone entertaining. It had more ups than downs, more in tune than flat or sharp and more talent. Please take the Poll below. Below the polls are my thoughts.
Season Ten Ladies
1. Lauren Alaina : C : Country singer. Just ok to me 2. Ashthon Jones : B- : Just OK. Nothing memorable to me. 3. Pia Toscano : A : Don’t want top give an A+ yet but that came pretty close. 4. Haley Reinhart : C+ : Just alright for me. Nice song but nothing unique. 5. Thia Megia : B- : Man, she started off really good, but right in the middle, right at the beginning of the tempo change, she was so flat, I almost fell off my chair. 6. Karen Rodriguez : C+ : It was just a safe song for her I think and she was a bit pitchy at times. 7. Naima Adedapo : B : Did a much better job than last time. She was a bit pitchy throughout the song but they all do that. She gets a B.
Season Ten Guys
1. Casey Abrams : C : Joe Cocker song. Did an pretty good job. But thought he kind of fizzled at the end. 2. Paul McDonald : C+ : This guy has always been one of my favs but tonight, he did not move me with that selection. 3. James Durbin : A : Well, this guy is a rocker. Nice arrangement… nice job. Surprised me. 4. Jacob Lusk : B : Man, I thought he was out of tune and pitchy throughout. He hit that last note in tune though. He was one of my favs too. But listening to the judges, I guess they are hearing something else. 5. Stefano Langon : B : Pitchy in the beginning but came alive at the keychange and tempo change. Not bad but not great either. 6. Scotty McCreery : C+ : Country song and did nothing for me. Out.. of … tune. The crowd goes crazy and I just don’t know what the heck they are hearing. How about you?
