America,
America, God shed his grace on thee.
Lest we never forget that day that lives in
infamy.
Where were you at and what were you doing,
On that early Tuesday morning your freedoms
pursuing?
I
started September 11th as I did many times
before.
With a coffee, the news, and some toast on
the patio.
Since I work from my home I don't have to
go far,
And as I work, I listen to Katie and Matt
Lauer.
I
turned my head left in the direction of the
TV when I heard Katie say,
"We have a report that a plane has crashed
in to the Twin Towers today!"
As they showed the live pictures of what was
happening down there,
I thought to myself for sure this was no accident
but an act of terror.
The
looks on the faces of the people in the streets
I will never forget,
The thought of the people trapped above and
below where the jet had hit,
The heroes who tried their best to save never
getting a chance... ...to say good-bye,
Will always be in my thoughts and prayers
until the day I die.
The
horror of just watching it on television made
me cry and hurt,
Hurt for the victims, their families and friends
and that pain that can't divert.
Then the plane that hit the Pentagon and the
one that went down... ... in Pennsylvania,
More innocent people die at the hands of terrorism
and cowardist mania.
I
was just a very small boy in grade school
getting a drink of water,
Someone shouted, "Kennedy had been shot",
and my innocence... ... was slaughtered.
As a kid and for what I personally experienced
that day,
I couldn't help but think of all the children
and for them I do pray.
America,
America, God shed his grace on thee.
Lest we never forget that day that lives in
infamy.
Where were you at and what were you doing,
On that early Tuesday morning your freedoms
pursuing?
